Project Engineer (Engineering)

About the role

CB&I, which offers storage and asset-management solutions through its Storage Solutions and Asset Solutions business units, is hiring a Project Engineer in Plainfield, Illinois. The engineer is an individual contributor who manages all or part of the engineering scope of a project, including the execution of engineering deliverables, and gives leadership and instruction to the engineering and design discipline leads. The role reports to the Engineering Manager and may be temporarily assigned to project sites.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direction and coordinate the engineering and design discipline leads on an assigned project.
• Lead execution of engineering deliverables, including the engineering schedule, budget, document controls and manpower staffing.
• Establish project procedures so deliverables meet client and engineering requirements.
• Ensure effective communication among engineering disciplines and review work with the client, management and functional leads.
• Identify problems and manage changes proactively.
• Maintain a focus on the end product, whether engineering, fabrication or construction, and may act as Project Engineering Manager.

Required profile

• Accredited (ABET) BS engineering degree.
• Professional Engineer certificate of registration preferred.
• 3+ years of project engineering experience on large industrial projects, and 3-5+ years in a discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, multitasking under tight deadlines, and proven negotiation and business-partnering skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
