Program Aide – Early Childhood Education

About the role

Save the Children is seeking a dedicated Program Aide to support the education and development of infants, toddlers, and preschool‑aged children across its Head Start sites in the United States. The role involves hands‑on classroom assistance, occasional travel to program locations, and ensuring a safe, nurturing environment for children and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assist classroom staff with daily activities, lesson preparation, and family engagement events.
• Provide temporary substitute coverage for Assistant Teachers or Teachers as needed.
• Perform custodial duties such as cleaning, trash removal, and maintaining secure facilities.
• Travel to multiple program sites or conduct home visits to support service delivery.
• Maintain clear communication with the Education & Inclusion Manager or Center Director.
• Uphold child‑safeguarding policies, report any concerns, and promote a culture of safety.
• Organize personal workload, manage time effectively, and keep supervisors informed of important issues.

Required profile

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships with children, families, and team members.
• Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to travel between sites.
• Awareness of child protection practices and willingness to participate in related training.
