Production Supervisor - Seats Manufacturing

About the role

Adient is hiring a Production Supervisor at its Northwood facility, responsible for coordinating and facilitating the manufacturing and shipping of quality seats. The supervisor leads, manages and motivates the production team in quality, safety, productivity and continuous improvement, with authority defined by the facility's organizational chart.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the material build schedule for team members while maintaining safe work practices, and keep an orderly flow of product through the assembly process.
• Maintain strict compliance with quality standards and record process changes and problems in a daily logbook; notify the Production Superintendent of deviations.
• Analyze production processes for improvements that support quality and plant profitability, and investigate and resolve interpersonal, conflict and performance issues within the team.
• Ensure team safety through safe conditions, habits and a clean environment, including root cause analysis of recordables and near misses, and active participation in safety committees, Kaizen events, audits and observations.
• Investigate and solve problems to reduce internal defects and customer concerns, review corrective actions, and communicate daily with the Customer Liaison to establish immediate line feedback and corrective action.
• Take part in poke yoke designs, supplier issue resolution, product improvement and new product development meetings, and monitor sequence numbers in-house and at the customer.
• Achieve production and manning targets, drive continuous improvement, and optimize communication through daily sheets, shift logs, SQDCA reports and pre- and mid-shift meetings.
• Manage and follow up on the Standardized Work System, correct ODS non-compliance, and oversee team training, coaching and attendance/overtime management.
• Complete 5S audits daily, ensure team members are trained in the Non-Conforming Material Procedure, and perform other duties assigned by the Production Superintendent.
