Production Supervisor (Night Shift)

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Production Supervisor for the night shift in Frederick. The supervisor directly oversees production employees to maximize productivity on assigned shifts and areas, planning and directing work, handling product and employee complaints and resolving problems in line with company policy, OSHA regulations and applicable laws.

Key responsibilities

• Work with plant management and other supervisors to assign, direct, review and monitor staff work
• Ensure procedures are in place for production efficiency, product quality, employee safety and state and federal guidelines
• Inspect products against specifications and direct machine setups and adjustments
• Coordinate production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements
• Evaluate daily production needs, set or adjust work procedures and complete paperwork such as production records, cleaning lists, schedules, accident reports and investigations
• Train employees on jobs and safety, monitor performance and recommend improvements to methods, equipment and product quality
• Analyze and resolve work problems, maintain time and production records and collaborate with other supervisors
• Provide supervision covering scheduling, selection, retention, feedback, discipline and performance management; support progressive discipline with Human Resources and take part in grievance resolution if a collective bargaining agreement exists
• Promote safety programs, enforce company policies and train employees on production and equipment standards

Required profile

• Minimum associate's degree in Operations Management or equivalent experience
• One to three years of supervisory experience in a food packaging environment preferred
• Experience leading and following safety and security policies
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Ability to understand cost containment and budgetary principles
• Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends

Required skills

• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and computer-based applications
• Excellent verbal and written communication, organization, prioritization and attention to detail
• Leadership, coaching and team-building skills

Working conditions

• Exposure to wet, hot, humid and cold temperatures, moving machinery and noise above 85 dB
• Lifting up to 45 lbs and regular work in office, warehouse and production environments
• Salary range: $73,815 - $92,270
