Plant Manager

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Plant Manager in Frederick. The role leads the plant across production, processing, packaging, quality, warehousing, shipping, purchasing, safety, environmental and administration, directing plant activities so that customer orders are received, scheduled, produced and shipped while meeting corporate quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze plant operations to keep the facility competitive and adopt new processes and technologies
• Control expenses (shrink, yields, labor, overhead) using continuous improvement and develop annual manufacturing and capital budgets
• Provide accurate information to finance for month-end closing
• Maintain SOPs, implement safety programs and ensure compliance with GMPs
• Own the food safety policy and program, including audits of food ingredients and finished goods
• Handle corporate, customer and government audits and ensure environmental compliance
• Act as liaison with distribution, supply planning, sales and customer service
• Maintain staffing levels, performance evaluations, discipline and commendations, and plan the succession of plant management staff

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years in a plant operations leadership role, preferably in extended shelf life or aseptic fluid dairy manufacturing
• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Operations Manufacturing Management or a related field
• Understanding of dairy manufacturing and packaging costs, budget development and regulatory standards
• Hands-on leadership, problem-solving and adaptability across functions
• Approachable to employees on all shifts, able to work weekends and holidays and travel as needed

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication
