Packaging Machine Operator

About the role

Saputo, a top 10 global dairy processor, is hiring a Packaging Machine Operator in its 24/7 manufacturing facility in Frederick. This is a hands-on role where operators run case-forming equipment and related packaging lines, working in teams that may cover day, swing or night shifts, including weekends.

Key responsibilities

• Operate case forming equipment safely and efficiently, and set up, run and replenish fiber, fiber gluer and taping equipment
• Follow standard operating procedures without deviation, and set up and validate case coding equipment against code specifications
• Verify and record accurate product case quantities, and identify and report out-of-specification conditions using the established notification protocol
• Perform routine equipment adjustments, change-overs, clean-up and set-up, and perform product reclaim and rework according to reclaim guidelines
• Complete production records accurately, support internal and external audits, and follow all occupational health and safety, GMP and food safety requirements
• Work with chemicals using required PPE, comply with dairy food regulations, and cross-train with other departments

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Demonstrated work history and good attendance
• Successful completion of a background check
• Ability to stand and walk most of a shift, lift up to 50 pounds unassisted, and work in noisy, temperature-changing conditions
• Shift flexibility, including up to 12-hour shifts

Required skills

• Understanding of food manufacturing acronyms such as SQF, QA/QC, HACCP, GMP and 5S
• Strong math skills and technical skills to operate equipment controls, touch panels and mechanical operations
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

What we offer

• Starting rate of $23.34 per hour, increasing up to $25.59
