Production Supervisor, LV Switchgear (1st Shift)

About the role

ABB's Mebane, NC site produces Low Voltage (LV) switchgear and related electrical distribution products. The Production Supervisor leads, coordinates and oversees daily manufacturing operations, ensuring production schedules are executed safely, with a focus on quality and efficiency, while meeting customer delivery commitments. The role reports to the Integrated Production Unit Manager and is based onsite in Mebane.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare the annual production budget, oversee its progress and take cost actions where needed to keep operations within budget and resources.
• Develop team members, projects, goals and metrics to drive operational performance and optimise working capital.
• Reduce non-value-added costs, increase revenues and improve factory and supplier yields so products are delivered on time with fewer field failures.
• Work with Operational Excellence teams to integrate lean manufacturing principles into production.
• Ensure capacity efficiency meets production expectations and prepare recovery plans for potential gaps.
• Lead by example and foster a culture of lean leadership and accountability.

Required profile

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations Management, Business or a related field preferred, or equivalent education and manufacturing experience.
• High School Diploma or GED with significant manufacturing leadership experience is also considered.
• Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating production schedules, workforce allocation and operational priorities to meet safety, quality, delivery and productivity objectives.
• Strong leadership, coaching and employee development skills.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, production processes, quality systems, inventory control and continuous improvement.
• Understanding of production planning, materials management and supply chain processes.
• ERP systems such as SAP for production reporting, inventory transactions and operations.
• Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and Outlook.
