Product Group Manager - Variable Speed Technology

About the role

ABB's NEMA Motors Division is hiring a Product Group Manager for its Variable Speed Technology portfolio in Greenville. The role reports to the Global Business Line Leader for Material Movement and Specialty Solutions and follows a hybrid work model. It drives strategic simplification of the product portfolio while keeping service level agreement metrics and standard processes in place, and leads market and competitive intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the NEMA Motors Variable Speed Technology portfolio strategy and product line simplification through SKU rationalization, portfolio segmentation, margin performance and alignment with customer and business growth objectives.
• Establish and improve product management operating processes via SLA governance, standardized workflows, visual management and continuous improvement.
• Lead market intelligence and strategic planning by analyzing customer needs, industry trends, competition and market opportunities to guide product positioning, pricing and investment decisions.
• Lead product managers, develop market-driven product requirements, support new product development and foster cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Operations and Sales.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 12 years of progressive experience, or an Associate's degree with at least 14 years, in B2B product management, product marketing, commercialization or portfolio management within industrial manufacturing.
• Mechanical, electrical or related engineering background preferred.
• Deep knowledge of motors or rotating equipment, and experience in OEM, HVAC, pump, compressor or other motor-driven applications preferred.
• Demonstrated success in product portfolio strategy, market analysis, new product commercialization and leading cross-functional initiatives.
• Work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Required skills

• Strong business and financial acumen, stakeholder management, leadership, communication and influence.
• Proficiency with product management and business tools such as SAP, Salesforce and Power BI; AI-enabled market intelligence platforms.
• Lean Six Sigma, PMP and/or Product Management certifications are a plus.
