Product Development Scientist

About the role

Ocean Spray is seeking a Product Development Scientist to create innovative food products that meet consumer demands and business goals. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to conceptualize, formulate, and bring new products to market while ensuring they are reproducible, cost‑effective, and aligned with supply capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, design, develop and commercialize new products and product optimizations.
• Conduct hands‑on bench development, pilot‑scale tests and design of experiments.
• Ensure products achieve desired sensory, quality, cost and raw‑material supply criteria.
• Manage technical timelines and multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Perform costing exercises throughout the development cycle and present recommendations to senior management.

Required profile

• BS in Food Science, Food Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related field.
• 3+ years of product development experience.
• Strong sensory evaluation skills and ability to formulate products that meet business and consumer needs.
• Proven project and timeline management abilities with effective communication.

Required skills

• Food science technical acumen.
• Experience with PLM systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
