Principal Scientist – Breakthrough Innovation

About the role

Ocean Spray is seeking a Principal Scientist to lead breakthrough innovation in ingredient development. The role will create transformative new products that expand the portfolio beyond core categories and support long‑term business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Ideate, design, develop and commercialize innovative new products for new verticals.
• Collaborate with the Emerging Science group to bring cutting‑edge technologies to market.
• Supervise and mentor a research technician, managing tasks and professional development.
• Conduct benchtop prototyping, pilot‑scale tests, and competitive feasibility assessments.
• Manage technical timelines, costing exercises, and present milestones to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Food Science, Food Engineering or Chemical Engineering (PhD a plus).
• 5‑10 years of product development experience, preferably in supplements, pet food or nutraceuticals.
• Familiarity with FDA, USDA or other relevant regulatory standards.
• Experience with PLM systems, Microsoft Office Suite and data analysis tools.
