Probationary Auxiliary Operator – Franklin Heating Station

About the role

This entry‑level position supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the basement utility equipment at the Franklin Heating Station. Working under the supervision of the Operator, you will assist with boiler, turbine, and auxiliary system tasks while gaining hands‑on experience in a high‑pressure plant environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor basement utility equipment, ensuring safe and efficient performance.
• Assist the Operator or Boiler Operator during peak periods or equipment outages.
• Perform minor repairs and adjustments on auxiliary equipment.
• Stay within the designated basement and first‑floor areas unless authorized to leave.
• Provide relief coverage for shift or maintenance crews as needed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of vocational training or equivalent experience with high‑pressure boilers, turbines, generators, electrical, and auxiliary equipment.
• Valid Minnesota Special Engineer License (2nd Class A, 1st Class A, or Chief A).
• Ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 lb, and wear a respirator.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Medical clearance for the duties.
