PRN Ultrasound Technologist

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital in West Jefferson, North Carolina, is hiring a PRN Ultrasound Technologist for its Radiology Department. The technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures under the direction of a Radiologist, using independent judgment and technical expertise to deliver accurate, timely imaging. The position is daytime with evening call coverage as needed, with no travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations accurately and efficiently for all patient populations
• Ensure proper patient positioning and select the appropriate transducer for each procedure
• Capture and submit high-quality images to the Radiologist for interpretation
• Maintain ultrasound equipment and exam rooms in good working order
• Use electronic systems such as Meditech to verify orders and document procedures
• Manage imaging workflow through PACS, including image storage and CD creation
• Exercise independent clinical judgment, cross-train in sonography practices as needed, and assist with other departmental tasks during low patient volume

Required profile

• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Diagnostic Medical Sonography program meeting ARRT or equivalent standards
• Minimum of one year of ultrasound experience preferred; new graduates may be considered
• ARDMS registration preferred; current CPR certification required
• Compliance with hospital policies including HIPAA, willingness to meet vaccination requirements, and successful post-offer background check and drug screening
