PRN RN – General Surgery

About the role

The Cleveland Clinic Mentor Hospital is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to support adult and pediatric surgical patients. This part‑time position works 2 twelve‑hour shifts per week, with flexible start times and no weekend or holiday requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care in the operating room before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Perform scrub duties, including selecting, handling, and passing instruments and supplies.
• Execute circulating functions such as monitoring patient status, documenting observations, and coordinating overall patient care.
• Assist the surgeon with tasks like hemostasis, suturing, wound exposure, and patient positioning.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current RN or RNFA licensure.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• One year of recent clinical experience for internal applicants or two years for external applicants.
• Ability to pass pre‑screen competency assessments.

Required skills

• Proficiency in scrub and circulating nursing functions.
• Knowledge of surgical instrument handling and sterile technique.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
