PRN Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery (Obstetrics)

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital's Women's Health team is hiring a PRN Obstetrical Registered Nurse for the 2nd shift. The nurse provides compassionate, skilled care to obstetrical patients and newborns, supporting them through labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. The position is on 12-hour shifts, varies with departmental needs, requires no travel, and is open to nurses licensed in North Carolina.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients throughout labor, delivery and recovery
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being and respond to changes in condition
• Assist physicians and providers during labor, delivery and postpartum procedures
• Administer medications and keep accurate, timely documentation
• Educate patients and families about postpartum care, newborn health and recovery
• Respond to urgent and emergent situations and collaborate with the care team

Required profile

• Current RN license in North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• ACLS certification within 6 months of hire
• NRP certification within 6 months of hire
• At least one year of nursing experience preferred
• Compliance with health and safety policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
• Successful criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening after offer
