PRN Patient Safety Attendant - Emergency Department

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital in West Jefferson, North Carolina, is hiring a PRN Patient Safety Attendant for its Emergency Department. The Safety Attendant provides continuous observation and support for patients who need close monitoring, helping keep them safe, comfortable and dignified while supporting the clinical team. The position is PRN (as needed), with hours varying according to patient care needs, and requires no travel.

Key responsibilities

• Provide constant, close observation of assigned patients to ensure their safety
• Identify and promptly report potential risks or changes in patient condition
• Assist with patient mobility, transport and basic care needs as appropriate
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff and interdisciplinary care teams
• Maintain a clean, safe and respectful patient environment
• Document observations accurately and report concerns in a timely manner

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Previous hospital or patient care experience preferred
• Compliance with hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
• Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (after offer)
