PRN Obstetrical Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital's Women's Health team is hiring a PRN Obstetrical Registered Nurse (RN) for the 2nd shift in its Labor & Delivery unit. The nurse provides compassionate, skilled care to obstetrical patients and newborns throughout labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care. The position is as-needed, with 12-hour shifts and no travel required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to obstetrical patients throughout labor, delivery and recovery
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being and respond to changes in condition
• Assist physicians and providers during labor, delivery and postpartum procedures
• Administer medications and keep accurate, timely documentation
• Educate patients and families about postpartum care, newborn health and recovery
• Respond to urgent and emergent situations
• Work with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal outcomes

Required profile

• Current RN license in North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 6 months of hire
• At least one year of nursing experience preferred
• Compliance with health and safety policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
• Successful criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening after offer
