PRN Imaging Nurse (Day Shift)

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital in West Jefferson, NC, is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) for its Radiology / Imaging department. The nurse provides patient-centered care before, during and after diagnostic and interventional procedures, working day shifts (first shift, schedule varies) on a PRN basis. No travel or supervisory duties are required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures
• Prepare and educate patients for procedures such as cardiac stress testing and biopsies
• Assist physicians and radiology staff with procedures such as thoracentesis, paracentesis and biopsies
• Monitor patients before, during and after procedures and respond promptly to changes
• Administer medications, including IV contrast, according to protocol
• Establish and maintain IV access and assist with or perform PICC line placement as appropriate
• Coordinate care with physicians, technologists and interdisciplinary team members
• Ensure compliance with safety, infection control and regulatory standards and keep accurate, timely documentation

Required profile

• Current RN license in North Carolina
• CPR certification within one month of hire; ACLS and PALS certifications within the orientation period
• Imaging, procedural or outpatient nursing experience preferred; cardiac stress testing experience is a plus
• Compliance with hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
• Successful criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (after offer)
