PRN House Supervisor - Registered Nurse (Med/Surg)

About the role

Ashe Memorial Hospital in West Jefferson, NC, is hiring a PRN RN House Supervisor for its Nursing Administration department. The supervisor is the administrative and clinical leader of the hospital during assigned shifts, overseeing operations, supporting clinical staff, ensuring quality patient care and handling emergent situations. The shift varies in length and no travel is required.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hospital-wide leadership and oversight during assigned shifts
• Coordinate staffing and patient care activities across all departments
• Serve as a mentor, resource and support for nursing and clinical staff
• Facilitate patient flow, admissions, transfers and discharges
• Respond to and manage urgent and emergent situations
• Collaborate with physicians, department leaders and administration to ensure continuity of care
• Promote adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards and patient safety initiatives
• Support conflict resolution and problem-solving in real time

Required profile

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months
• Minimum of five years of clinical nursing experience preferred
• Compliance with hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered)
• Successful criminal background check and post-offer drug screening
