Principal, Sales and Use Tax Consulting

About the role

Ryan is seeking a Principal for its Sales and Use Tax Consulting practice in the southeastern U.S., with no location preference (Atlanta is ideal). The Principal develops, implements and executes tax services within the practice, and the title is comparable to an equity partner in public accounting. Candidates should have a strong technical background in sales and use taxation and proven business development experience, ideally at Managing Director or Director level.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the practice to develop new tax planning ideas for global clients
• Supervise consulting work delegated to staff and managers
• Serve as subject matter expert for the practice across the firm and assigned jurisdictions
• Assist in the general operation and administration of the practice
• Develop new client relationships and help expand the practice to other markets with global management
• Make routine presentations to prospects and clients
• Develop and execute tax consulting projects and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting and/or finance, or equivalent
• 10 to 12 years of experience in the practice specialization
• Track record of excellent service delivery and teamwork
• Valid driver's license
• Supervisory responsibilities: directly or indirectly supervising employees in the practice
• Regular travel of 30 to 50%, and a 50+ hour standard workweek

Required skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Internet navigation and research
