Principal Product Leader - Therapeutics Discovery

About the role

Reporting to the Domain Head for Therapeutics Discovery, this Principal Product Leader defines and executes the strategy for a product family that supports making and testing molecules, manages the data lifecycle and provides data products for AI/ML, scientific analysis and decision-making in drug discovery. The role sits in the Data and Digital Catalysts department of the Computational Sciences Center of Excellence, which unifies Genentech's research and early development groups around data and artificial intelligence.

Key responsibilities

• Define the strategy and product vision for a product family in the Therapeutics Discovery Domain to enable high-impact scientific outcomes.
• Articulate the strategic product roadmap, nurture stakeholder relationships and drive delivery.
• Advocate for future-facing solutions, anticipate emerging capabilities and influence the Roche/Genentech informatics ecosystem, integrating these into roadmaps, budget projections and collaborations with implementation teams.
• Contribute to consolidating and deprecating legacy systems and reducing technical debt.
• Build strong internal and external partnerships with collaborators in DDC, CS CoE and beyond.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree plus at least 7 years, or an advanced degree plus at least 2 years, of proven experience leading delivery of impactful internal solutions.
• Experience in a biotechnology setting and understanding of scientific drug discovery processes.
• Hands-on domain expertise in the design-make-test-learn aspects of biotechnology and how scientific data is collected, managed, analyzed and used in discovery.
• Proven ability to lead by example, mentor and coach others, and to influence without direct authority.

What we offer

• Expected salary range of $148,600-$276,000 for the California location, depending on experience, qualifications and location.
• A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and company performance.
