Principal Machine Learning System Engineer

About the role

Atlassian is hiring a Principal Machine Learning System Engineer in its Rovo & AI Engineering organization, working remotely. The role contributes to Rovo Chat, described as Atlassian's biggest bet and fastest-growing area, by bringing cutting-edge innovations to the product and building agent harnesses that improve quality, reliability and latency. The engineer leads other engineers from technical design to launch and works with other teams and internal customers.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to Rovo Chat and build agent harnesses that deliver step-function improvements in quality, reliability and latency.
• Lead other engineers on projects from technical design to launch.
• Collaborate with other teams and internal customers to set expectations, gather input and communicate results.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience as a software developer.
• Experience building customer-facing Gen AI applications at scale.
• Experience pushing the state of the art to achieve breakthrough quality and reliability.
• Deep understanding of the machine learning project lifecycle.
• Experience leading and supporting senior engineers and working cross-functionally.

What we offer

• Base pay for new hires in the US ranges from $196,461 to $309,025 depending on pay zone.
