Principal Engineer – Structural and Vibration Analyst

About the role

Red 6 Technologies is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead structural and vibration analysis of advanced hardware for military jet and rotary‑wing aircraft. The role combines leadership of a mechanical analysis team with hands‑on technical work on AR/VR and optical sensor systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, grow, and mentor a team of Mechanical Analysis Engineers, providing technical guidance and design leadership.
• Perform detailed structural, vibration, modal, shock, and CFD analyses of aerospace hardware to ensure reliability and compliance with MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑516, AS9100 and MMPDS.
• Develop finite‑element models in ANSYS Workbench and verify results against test data.
• Design electronic packaging and structural components for extreme operational conditions.
• Collaborate with Mechanical, Optical, Electrical, Product and Systems Engineering teams to deliver flight‑qualified hardware.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years of stress and structural analysis experience for aerospace or military systems.
• Proven leadership and team‑building experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance.
• Willingness to relocate to or commute to Louisville, Colorado.

Required skills

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using ANSYS Workbench.
• CAD modeling in CREO or SolidWorks.
• Vibration and shock analysis (steady‑state and transient).
• CFD analysis for dynamic fluid flow events.
• Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑516, AS9100, MMPDS specifications.
• Electronic packaging and structural integrity assessment for aerospace applications.
