Prep Cook – Day Shift, No Nights

About the role

The Prep Cook joins a small 3‑4 person kitchen team to produce healthy, made‑from‑scratch meals for hundreds of school children each day. The position offers stable daytime hours with weekends and holidays off.

Key responsibilities

• Follow daily production menus, preparing, cooking, cooling and plating dishes according to Red Rabbit recipes and food‑safety standards.
• Wash, peel, chop, slice and portion ingredients, weighing them to exact specifications.
• Pack and distribute meals to students, tracking quantities to minimize waste and ensure compliance with portion guidelines.
• Maintain a clean workstation and equipment to exceed Department of Health standards.

Required profile

• 2+ years of professional culinary experience in a high‑volume kitchen or similar cafeteria setting.
• ServeSafe certification (or obtain within 90 days, reimbursement available).
• Ability to lift 50 lb regularly and work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment.
• Positive attitude, team‑oriented and fluent in English (Spanish a plus).

Required skills

• ServeSafe food‑safety knowledge.
• Operation and maintenance of industrial kitchen equipment.
