Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Technician in Photobiology

About the role

The Liu Lab at Saint Louis University seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow or research technician to investigate protein structure and function in photosynthetic systems, spanning cyanobacteria, higher plants, and green sulfur bacteria.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments on protein expression, purification, and functional analysis.
• Perform molecular biology techniques including PCR, cloning, and recombinant protein production in E. coli.
• Apply bioinformatics and structural modeling tools to interpret protein data.
• Conduct protein biochemistry assays such as chromatography, SDS‑PAGE, western blotting, enzymatic assays, and chemical labeling.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members and contribute to manuscript preparation.

Required profile

• PhD in Plant/Microbial Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Experience with photosynthesis research, proteomics, or bioinformatics is desirable.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research environment.
