Postdoctoral Associate – Coral Reef Research

About the role

The Coral Reef Futures Lab at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School seeks a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to advance coral biology and restoration research. The position focuses on Caribbean coral reproduction, larval ecology, and early life‑history studies, with an emphasis on scaling propagation and out‑planting using a land‑based coral facility.

Key responsibilities

• Design and lead experiments on coral spawning, fertilization, larval development, settlement, and post‑settlement survival.
• Develop and test propagation methods, including hydrogels, bioprinting, substrate enhancements, and anti‑fouling coatings.
• Mentor undergraduate and MPS students on independent research projects.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation, grant writing, and collaborative proposals.
• Coordinate spawning activities and nursery research across institutional partners.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in marine biology, ecology, or a related field.
• Strong scientific leadership and experimental design skills.
• Experience mentoring students and collaborating in interdisciplinary teams.
