About the role
The University of Miami’s College of Arts and Sciences seeks a full‑time Postdoctoral Associate in the Wilson Lab to investigate how the nutrient‑sensing pathway mTORC1 regulates the aphid‑Buchnera endosymbiosis. The role combines laboratory work with a substantial computational component and is part of a collaborative research team.
Key responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments to test the hypothesis that mTORC1 coordinates bacterial population growth with host development.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret both wet‑lab and computational data.
- Prepare research reports, technical papers, and contribute as first author to peer‑reviewed publications.
- Co‑mentor undergraduate researchers and support their project development.
- Participate in lab meetings, seminars, and conference presentations.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Biology, Cell Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in host‑microbe interactions, symbiosis, or nutrient‑sensing pathways.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a developing experimental system.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
