Porter/Dishwasher – In‑School, No Nights/Weekends

About the role

Red Rabbit is seeking reliable porters to join its school‑based kitchen teams in New York City. This full‑time, in‑school position runs mornings only, with no night or weekend shifts, allowing you to work while attending classes.

Key responsibilities

• Thoroughly clean all kitchen areas—including countertops, equipment, walk‑in refrigerators, floors, sinks, dishes and storage—to exceed Department of Health standards.
• Remove trash, cardboard and compost promptly, keeping the workspace free of debris for food preparation.
• Support the kitchen team with line preparation and set‑up for daily meal production.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Chef.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in a restaurant, hotel or commissary kitchen.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry up to 50 lb and stand for long periods.
• Reliable, team‑oriented and able to work calmly in a fast‑moving environment.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment and procedures.
• Understanding of safety and sanitation regulations.
