Plant Controller – Cost Management

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Plant Controller / Cost Manager to support the financial performance of a manufacturing operation in the Chicago area. The role works closely with plant leadership, providing cost analysis, budgeting, inventory control, and performance reporting to drive profitable decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Perform detailed product costing analysis, reviewing labor, material, and overhead assumptions.
• Lead month‑end close for the plant and maintain standard costs.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial and operational reports for plant leadership.
• Analyze KPIs, production metrics and financial results, investigating variances.
• Lead the annual plant budgeting process and produce monthly forecasts.
• Maintain a cost‑savings tracker and support continuous‑improvement initiatives.
• Conduct inventory reconciliations, support cycle counts and ensure internal‑control compliance.

Required profile

• Strong manufacturing accounting experience.
• Solid understanding of cost accounting principles and month‑end close processes.
• Ability to translate financial data into actionable business recommendations.
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
