Senior Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join D.R. Horton’s Accounting Department. The role involves performing a variety of accounting and finance functions with limited supervision, identifying issues, researching solutions, and implementing improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of the company’s financial statements.
• Analyze and support the implementation of new accounting standards.
• Execute monthly close procedures and meet all deadlines.
• Prepare monthly balance‑sheet account reconciliations.
• Apply GAAP to a wide range of business transactions.
• Perform account analysis and reconciliation for significant balance‑sheet accounts.
• Review and analyze financial statements and prepare journal entries as needed.
• Deliver ad‑hoc analyses, reports, and projects for division management.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Four to six years of related accounting experience.
• CPA or CFA designation, or active candidacy, strongly preferred.
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to process and record large volumes of data accurately.

Required skills

• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
