Senior Tax Analyst

About the role

Avant is seeking a highly motivated Senior Tax Analyst to join its tax team in downtown Chicago. The role supports the Senior Tax Manager in delivering efficient tax planning, research and compliance across Federal, state, local and Canadian jurisdictions while collaborating with finance, treasury and FP&A partners.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare Federal, state and Canadian income tax workpapers using Excel, Databricks and related tools.
• Collaborate with external service providers to prepare and review tax returns.
• Drive the review and preparation of annual and interim tax provisions and disclosures (ASC 740).
• Draft memorandums on tax matters and compute extension and estimated tax payments.
• Respond to and resolve tax notices from authorities.
• Support tax planning initiatives through research and coordination with third‑party consultants.
• Partner with Accounting, Treasury and FP&A to gather data for tax projections and compliance.
• Gather information and prepare monthly and annual indirect tax filings for software.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
• 2 + years of experience in public accounting or corporate tax compliance/provision.
• CPA and/or Master of Science in Taxation preferred.
• Ability to think creatively, work independently and communicate tax issues to non‑tax professionals.
• Willingness to work on a hybrid schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in‑office).

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience using Google Drive (Sheets, Docs, Slides).
• Familiarity with Databricks and NetSuite.
• Strong Excel modeling capabilities.

• Competitive base salary range of $66,000 – $96,000 per year.
