Planner IV – Urban & Transportation Planning

About the role

HNTB is seeking a Planner IV to lead planning initiatives for urban and transportation infrastructure projects. The role involves applying planning strategies, analyzing data, and delivering clear visual and written communications to support project delivery from concept through completion.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate internal and external project team members across disciplines.
• Lead client meetings and maintain ongoing client interactions.
• Research policies, issues, and concepts related to planning and formulate recommendations.
• Develop conceptual planning alternatives for urban and transportation projects.
• Prepare technical plans, studies, reports, and environmental documents.
• Deliver presentations and facilitate public meetings.
• Mentor less‑experienced staff and guide small‑to‑medium task teams.
• Assist in preparing scopes of work, fee proposals, and RFP responses.
• Gather, analyze, and synthesize data using GIS and related planning tools.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, or a related field with at least 6 years of professional experience, OR a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of experience.
