Piping Designer – Heavy Industrial Projects

About the role

The Piping Designer will create and manage 3D models, layouts and detailed drawings for process and utility piping systems in large‑scale industrial facilities. The role supports the full project lifecycle from design through construction, ensuring compliance with industry codes and seamless coordination with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop 3D piping models, isometrics and orthographic drawings from P&IDs, equipment GA’s and vendor data.
• Ensure designs meet project specifications, ASME B31.1, B31.3 and other applicable codes.
• Coordinate with civil, structural and mechanical disciplines to produce integrated equipment layouts and support details.
• Participate in model reviews, design checks and constructability assessments.
• Generate material take‑offs, pipe‑stress inputs and support drawings; provide field support and as‑built updates.

Required profile

• Associate degree, technical diploma or equivalent experience in piping or mechanical technology.
• 5–30+ years of piping design experience on heavy‑industrial or EPC projects.
• Proven ability to interpret P&IDs, vendor drawings and mechanical design data.

Required skills

• AutoCAD Plant 3D
• CADWorx
• SmartPlant 3D (SP3D)
• MicroStation or equivalent 3D modeling tools
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, API and ANSI piping codes
