QC Lab Technician – Rotating 12‑hr Shifts

About the role

The Quality Control Lab Technician will join BASF’s Dispersions team in Monaca, PA, performing quality assurance testing on raw materials, intermediates, and finished latex products. The role supports continuous improvement of lab and plant processes while ensuring compliance with BASF’s quality policy and ISO 9001 standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain analytical instruments such as GCs, HPLC, FTIR, spectrophotometers, viscometers, ovens, balances, pH meters, and microscopy equipment.
• Perform quality testing of in‑process and finished latex products using pH, viscosity, gas chromatography, and other analytical techniques.
• Enter and evaluate data in LIMS and SAP systems, ensuring adherence to internal and external specifications.
• Support safety initiatives, participate in training, and follow all environmental, health, safety, and security procedures.
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to expedite shipments and meet customer expectations.

Required profile

• Associate degree or technical degree in Chemistry/Analytical Testing, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 2 years of relevant industrial lab experience.
• Experience working on a 12‑hour rotating shift in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lb and follow written and verbal procedures safely.

Required skills

• Proficiency with analytical equipment: GCs, HPLC, FTIR, spectrophotometers, viscometers, balances, pH meters, microscopy.
• Experience using LIMS and SAP for data entry and analysis.
• Competence with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Basic understanding of general chemistry, analytical methodology, statistics, and problem‑solving.
