Physician Medical Assistant - Primary Care

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a Physician Medical Assistant for its primary care practice on Indiantown Road. The medical assistant assists the physician in all aspects of the practice under the physician's direct responsibility, covering patient care management, administrative and clinical procedures and supervisory duties.

Key responsibilities

• Take vital signs and prepare patients for examination
• Enter lab and imaging orders
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
• Update patient medical records
• Answer phones and schedule appointments
• Remove sutures and dressings
• Transmit prescription refills
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program, with one year in a medical office preferred; otherwise three years of experience in a medical office is required
• Medical assisting certification preferred
• Experience in medical assisting and knowledge of outpatient medicine
• Knowledge of medical practice, patient care, examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures, and medical equipment and instruments
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
• Computer skills, customer service skills and decision-making ability
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated and able to work in a team

Required skills

• Manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination and the ability to lift and handle patients
• Ability to stand, walk and sit
• Exposure to bodily fluids
• Completion of annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, TB/PPD surveillance, and maintenance of professional licensing or certification
