Medical Technologist - Evening Shift Supervisor

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring an Evening Shift Supervisor for its clinical laboratory. The supervisor oversees technical and non-technical laboratory personnel and daily operations in assigned areas and shifts, ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise personnel, processes, service levels and regulatory compliance in assigned areas, including specimen collection, processing and referral testing
• Manage scheduling, productivity, inventory and staffing for the assigned shift, adjusting schedules and workstation assignments as needed
• Orient new employees, run in-services, ensure competency testing and annual safety training, and coach and train team members
• Perform and interpret diagnostic laboratory procedures and review quality control, preventive maintenance and patient records
• Maintain accreditation and licensing requirements, implement the laboratory safety program and document corrective actions for unacceptable results
• Monitor resource utilization, compile performance statistics, complete performance evaluations every three months and annually, and advise the manager/director on laboratory issues
• May be required to do bench work, phlebotomy and cross-train to other duties

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree and nationally certified medical technologist
• Florida supervisor license; licensure preferred in all six areas or at least chemistry, hematology and immunohematology, or eligible to obtain it within 6 months
• 5 years of clinical laboratory experience
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, College of American Pathology and AABB accreditation standards, and federal and state clinical laboratory regulations
