Per Diem Medical Technologist - Varied

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a per diem medical technologist. The position works with department leadership to support the department's needs and performs, interprets and reports clinical laboratory diagnostic tests on blood and body fluids.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain competency in licensed areas and perform testing as needed
• Keep testing analyzers, laboratory processes and equipment running through quality control, calibrations, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting
• Evaluate, implement and validate new equipment and techniques
• Assist in orienting and training new team members
• Maintain laboratory supply and reagent inventory and place orders
• Review pending logs and communicate findings to the next shift
• Stay current through workshops, publications and professional societies, and act as a resource for other departments
• Follow infection-control, hazardous waste and confidentiality policies

Required profile

• Licensed as a medical technologist in Florida
• Education: AA/AS, BS preferred
• ASCP or equivalent certification preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work long periods standing, sitting or walking
• Annual Joint Commission education, TB/PPD surveillance and license/certification maintenance
