About the role

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks a Board Eligible Physician to deliver comprehensive medical and psychiatric care to individuals with behavioral health and developmental disabilities at Georgia Regional Hospital Atlanta in Decatur, GA.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough medical examinations, psychiatric assessments, and diagnostic evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medication management and therapy recommendations.
• Order, interpret, and act upon laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostics.
• Provide crisis intervention and emergency medical care as needed.
• Document patient encounters, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions and treatment options.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers, community resources, and support services for coordinated care.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement initiatives and program development.

Required profile

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
• Completion of an accredited residency in Psychiatry, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or a related specialty.
• Board eligibility in the relevant specialty (board certification preferred).
• Valid, unrestricted medical license in the state of Georgia.
• Current DEA registration.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and treatment‑planning abilities.
