Physical Therapist Assistant (Home Health)

About the role

Amedisys, part of the Optum family of businesses, offers home health, hospice and community-based services. As a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA), you will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide skilled care in patients' homes, carrying out individualized treatment plans that improve mobility, strength, balance and independence while promoting safety.

Key responsibilities

• Provide physical therapy services and interventions under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist, in line with the physician-approved plan of care
• Observe, record and report the patient's response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising PT, physician and other clinical staff
• Monitor and document the patient's response to physical therapy intervention
• Include documentation of supervisory activities in the patient's medical record
• Take part in patient care conferences, chart audits, quality improvement activities (OBQI and OBQM) and peer review
• Make recommendations for follow-up care and coordinate referrals to community resources
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Current license to practice as a physical therapy assistant in the state of assignment
• Graduate of a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy assistant program
• Current CPR certification
• At least 1 year of related physical therapy experience; PTA candidates with less than 1 year need approval from regional clinical leaders and mentoring or a residency program

What we offer

• Total cash target pay of $52,417 to $78,625 annually, with per-visit point pay and an hourly rate depending on productivity
