Phone Installation Technician (Government)

About the role

AT&T Global Public Sector, which serves the Federal Government with secure, IP-enabled, cloud-based network solutions, is hiring a Phone Installation Technician in McLean, Virginia. The role covers installation, maintenance and support of telecommunications systems, including VoIP and legacy phone systems. It requires office presence of at least 5 days per week, only at the customer's site, and involves travel between Chantilly and McLean.

Key responsibilities

• Support all aspects of phone installations and troubleshoot a variety of telephones
• Install, pull, terminate and dress cabling according to industry and sponsor standards
• Troubleshoot and repair faulty connections, dropped calls and hardware issues
• Configure call routing, voicemail, extensions and phone features
• Travel between customer buildings or to alternate locations for special projects
• Work in a team covering 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with flexibility for 24x7 operations, extended hours at peak times and last-minute requests; shift is 6am-2:30pm

Required profile

• TSSCI clearance with polygraph
• Experience installing endpoints such as desktop IT equipment, printers, VoIP and digital phones, and network switches
• Experience resolving technical problems involving computer hardware, networks and telecommunications systems
• Ability to adapt to changing tasks and learn new skills quickly

Required skills

• Knowledge of cabling methodologies, industry standards and troubleshooting techniques
• Ability to read and understand cable run lists
