Network Engineer

About the role

Omnyon is hiring a full-time Network Engineer in Annapolis Junction. The role covers maintenance and sustainment of existing networks, routine troubleshooting and scheduled maintenance, with escalation to higher levels when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and sustain existing networks and identify and correct issues
• Resolve routine network problems using scripts and standard procedures, escalating when necessary
• Monitor data or voice system networks for messages, alarms or issues, confirm their accuracy and severity, and activate scripts as alarms occur
• Document results and communicate alarms and actions taken to users and vendors
• Execute scheduled maintenance routines and activate or deactivate network lines on schedule
• Perform first- and second-level problem determination, acting as a help desk interface with users and vendors

Required profile

• Two years of experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity
• Associate's degree in engineering technology from an accredited college, or two additional years of network engineering experience in its place
• IAT Level II baseline certification under DoD 8570.01-M
• TS/SCI polygraph clearance required
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions

Required skills

• Experience installing and configuring network devices such as firewalls, switches, routers, cabling, Cisco, Brocade or Juniper is a plus
• Support of WAN technologies such as SONET (OC3, OC48, OC192), DS3, T1 is a plus
• Experience with Taclanes/KG-175, MPLS, BGP, VPNs is a plus
• CompTIA Network+, CCENT, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or equivalent is desired

What we offer

• Salary range of $70k - $170k, depending on experience, skills, clearance, contract type and market conditions
