Philanthropy Officer

About the role

The University of Miami’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations is seeking a full‑time Philanthropy Officer to lead major gift strategies for its medical and academic units in Coral Gables, FL.

Key responsibilities

• Identify prospective donors and funding sources, develop cultivation and solicitation plans with faculty, staff, and volunteers.
• Maintain regular communication, stewardship, and acknowledgment of gifts, including re‑solicitations and pledge tracking.
• Coordinate donor appointments, scheduling, and facilitation of clinical encounters.
• Collaborate with medical departments, other schools, and central development to align fundraising goals.
• Document all contacts, visits, and proposals in Raiser’s Edge and related donor systems.
• Achieve departmental cash fundraising targets and individual solicitation goals.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Minimum five years of fundraising or related experience.
• Strong learning agility, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Ability to adhere to university policies and safeguard assets.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge donor management software.
• Skilled in standard office applications and technology tools.
