Pharmacy Technician - Full Time

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a full-time Pharmacy Technician. The technician works under the direct supervision of licensed pharmacists, assisting with compounding, distribution and dispensing of medications and pharmaceutical supplies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide a high level of assistance in compounding sterile and non-sterile preparations, and in the distribution and dispensing of medication and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Assist pharmacy managers or their designee in designing, coordinating and implementing pharmacy technician services.
• Adhere to policies and regulations on sterile compounding practice.
• Maintain record-keeping and training documentation for areas of responsibility.
• Inspect assigned areas monthly for proper storage and labeling of medications and expired medications, and complete the inspection documentation.
• Help identify and research problems related to department budget and patient billing.
• Attend educational seminars and in-services to maintain skills and competencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Florida Registered Certified Pharmacy Technician license.
• One year of hospital experience preferred; sterile and non-sterile compounding experience preferred.
• Knowledge of automated dispensing/storage technology preferred.
• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work, communicate orally and in writing, and follow instructions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of pharmacy policies, procedures and objectives.
• Use of job-appropriate technology and software applications.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and push or pull a 40-pound cart for prolonged distances.
• Annual Joint Commission mandatory education, in-service and health requirements, including TB/PPD and surveillance program.
