Pharmacy Technician – Central Inpatient (Evenings)

About the role

The Pharmacy Technician – Central Inpatient works on Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus, supporting one of the highest‑volume inpatient pharmacies. The role is evening‑focused (2:00 pm–10:30 pm) and includes rotating through multiple operational areas to gain broad medication preparation and distribution experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare medications through selection, labeling, repacking, non‑sterile and sterile compounding.
• Deliver medications to appropriate storage locations accurately and timely.
• Maintain accurate inventories, conduct cycle counts, and perform nursing unit inspections.
• Follow safety and regulatory procedures, including temperature logs and documentation of scheduled activities.
• Utilize pharmacy information systems, automation, and the MAR messaging system to complete tasks.
• Assist in training pharmacy caregivers and students.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED and at least six months of related experience.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through PTCB or NHA upon hire.
• Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (Certified, Registered, or Trainee).
• Ability to work evening shifts and every third weekend.

Required skills

• Medication preparation and both non‑sterile and sterile compounding.
• Operation of automated carousel and other pharmacy automation equipment.
• Use of pharmacy information systems and MAR messaging tools.
• Inventory management, cycle counting, and audit procedures.
• Compliance with safety, clean‑room, and regulatory documentation practices.
