Per Diem Mammography Technologist

About the role

The University of Miami Health System seeks a Per Diem Mammography Technologist to perform complex mammography procedures, ensuring high‑quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure. The role requires independent judgment, technical expertise, and patient‑focused care.

Key responsibilities

• Obtain and verify orders for mammography exams, ensuring appropriateness and addressing discrepancies.
• Operate mammography scanners and related equipment following radiation safety protocols and age‑appropriate standards.
• Position patients, use immobilization and protective devices, and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Assist radiologists with imaging, IV placement, contrast injection, and interventional mammography tasks.
• Evaluate technical quality of scans, label and transmit images to PACS, and charge procedures in UChart/Radiant.
• Maintain accurate patient records, provide patient education, and respond to emergencies including Code Blue and CPR.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology/Diagnostic Imaging program.
• Florida General Radiographer license and ARRT registration (certification in primary modality within 1 year of hire).
• CPR and BLS certification.
• One year of relevant experience preferred, though new graduates will be considered.
