Pediatric Dental Assistant III

About the role

The College of Dentistry at Texas A&M University Health Science Center is seeking a Dental Assistant III to join the Pediatric Dentistry department. This full‑time, on‑site position supports graduate students and provides chair‑side assistance for pediatric patients.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients and treatment rooms, provide indirect patient care, and respond to clinical inquiries.
• Assist graduate students during examinations and treatments using four‑handed dentistry techniques, including suction, retraction, and monitoring sedated patients.
• Perform disinfection, sterilization, and infection‑control procedures in compliance with OSHA and local policies.
• Operate dental radiographic equipment, take intra‑oral radiographs, and assist with oral photography and material preparation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four years of experience as a registered dental assistant in a private practice, clinic, or training program.
• CPR certification and Registered Dental Assistant credential.
• Comfortable working with children of all ages and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Operation of dental radiographic equipment.
• Knowledge of dental instruments, materials, terminology, and standardized procedures.
• Infection‑control policies, aseptic techniques, and OSHA compliance.
• Four‑handed dentistry and chair‑side assistance techniques.
