Oral Pathology Services Coordinator

About the role

The College of Dentistry seeks an Oral Pathology Services Coordinator to support timely diagnosis of biopsy specimens, act as a liaison among labs, clinicians, and billing teams, and ensure efficient laboratory operations.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily laboratory workflow, including specimen receipt, logging, accessioning, and gross examination preparation.
• Verify patient, clinical, billing, and insurance information for accuracy and follow up as needed.
• Serve as liaison with the Revenue Cycle team to support requisitions, coding, and billing documentation.
• Manage administrative support, claim denials, coding discrepancies, and reimbursement trends.
• Distribute pathology reports and consult materials while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
• Maintain laboratory records, inventory, and compliance with CLIA and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of experience in a healthcare, dental, medical, or laboratory administrative environment.
• Preferred: three to five years of experience in pathology or academic healthcare settings and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Required skills

• Experience with Epic, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), and Electronic Health Records (EHR).
• Knowledge of medical billing, insurance claims, and revenue cycle processes.
