Pediatric Critical Care Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)

About the role

The Pediatric Critical Care Unit seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to deliver high‑quality, compassionate care to critically ill children. Working under the Medical Director and alongside physicians, nurses, and discharge coordinators, you will manage acute emergencies, teach trainees, and support patient and family education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent medical management, including emergency stabilization of critically ill pediatric patients.
• Collaborate with residents, fellows, attendings, nurses, and discharge coordinators in patient care planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and other staff; contribute to staff development and education.
• Participate in patient and family education, discharge planning, and community outreach.

Required profile

• NP: Master’s degree in Nursing; PA: Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or related health science.
• Current state license (APRN for NP, PA license with NCCPA certification for PA) and eligibility for prescriptive authority.
• Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP‑AC) for NP; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification for both NP and PA.
• No prior experience required; preferred 3 years related experience.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval, including Windows‑style applications.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including 24/7, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
