Pediatric Cardiac ICU Advanced Practice Provider (PRN)

About the role

This position supports a collaborative care model in the Pediatric Cardiac ICU, working alongside residents, fellows, attendings, and nursing staff. The role involves primary and urgent medical management, emergency stabilization, and education of trainees and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary and urgent care for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including emergency stabilization.
• Teach and mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and nursing staff.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education.
• Collaborate with the Medical Director, PCCs, and discharge coordinators on care planning and evaluation.

Required profile

• Current APRN license (NP) in Louisiana or PA license with NCCPA certification.
• Certification in BCLS/ACLS from the American Heart Association.
• Eligible for prescriptive authority in the state of practice.
• Reliable transportation and ability to work a flexible schedule, including on‑call, weekends, and holidays.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for data entry and retrieval, including Windows‑style applications.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols.
