PCU Certified Patient Technician

About the role

AdventHealth in Ocala, Florida is hiring a full-time day-shift Certified Patient Technician (PCU) for its PCU unit. The technician provides patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, following policies and procedures and working in a team.

Key responsibilities

• Perform treatments according to policy and procedure, giving patient care suited to age, mobility, acuity and culture
• Respond appropriately in clinical emergencies
• Follow isolation guidelines, use protective equipment correctly, wash hands and enforce safety regulations
• Communicate effectively with patients, families and the healthcare team
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
• Document and report procedures and assist in obtaining a nursing history, reporting abnormalities to the registered nurse
• Participate in practice changes and quality improvement, and perform other duties as assigned

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) is required
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), AMCA PCT-C, or EMT certification is required
• 1+ years of applicable PCT experience preferred; previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician or equivalent experience preferred

Pay range: $16.02 - $25.63. Positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting.
