Occupational Therapist (Acute) - StaffFlex Contract

About the role

AdventHealth Ocala is hiring an Occupational Therapist (Acute) on a StaffFlex contract for 13 weeks, open to anyone with availability. The position pays $70.00 per hour and covers 10-hour or 12-hour day shifts. The therapist must float to other areas and sites and be available for weekends, holidays and after-hours.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate patients referred to occupational therapy, completing the initial evaluation within department time standards and applying diagnostic and prognostic testing for musculoskeletal, neurological and neuromuscular conditions.
• Develop treatment plans with specific goals and activities, reassessing and modifying them as needed, and make disposition recommendations.
• Use sensorimotor, neuromuscular re-educational, recreational and social activities to help patients achieve maximum independence in daily living.
• Provide ADL training, home safety assessment, compensatory techniques and equipment, splinting and hand therapy, and collaborate with the care team on discharge planning.
• Teach patients the skills they need and document evaluations, progress notes and treatment records accurately, supporting billing and reporting.
• Float to other areas and sites, work flexible schedules, and take part in quality improvement, training and department development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy (master's and doctorate preferred).
• At least 2 years of recent acute occupational therapy experience.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and an active Occupational Therapist license.
• Willingness to float and work weekends, holidays and after hours.
